Staghorn Silver Fern 8 “
I love these ferns!
I was intimidated by them for so long but now that I’ve had one for a year, I’ve found that it’s so easy to care for as long as it has the right environment, like any plant.
Staghorn ferns are epiphytic plants, which means that they grow on other plants or trees in their natural growing environments.
They need bright, indirect or diffused light to thrive, NOT direct light. Rooms with Southern and Eastern exposures tend to be best, although unobstructed North windows will be fine. Avoid cold rooms as they enjoy a warm humid environment.
Water once per week in dry, hot times of year, and once every two to three weeks during cooler months. To water, place pot in a tub of room temperature water and let it soak for about 10 mins, drain and place back in it's happy place! It will also appreciate a fine misting on the underside of their fronds once in a while.
